On International Day for Biological Diversity, KIZ released the "Gaoligong Mountains Biodiversity Series"—the most comprehensive and authoritative documentation of biodiversity in this global biodiversity hotspot.

Series Highlights:

- 5 volumes documenting 1,245 vertebrate species and 500 common agricultural/forestry insects

- Rare and Endangered Mammals: 227 mammal species including 51 nationally protected species and 10 regional endemics

- Rare and Endangered Birds: 753 bird species with detailed coverage of 179 threatened/nationally protected species

- Amphibians: 92 species including 3 newly described species (Nujiang torrent frog, Shuhe torrent frog, Cloud-hiding wrinkled tree frog)

- Fish: 147 species including 124 native species, with 60+ species having type localities in Gaoligong Mountains

- Insects: 500 common agricultural/forestry species

Scientific Value:
